Juan Carlos Pita Castro is a Spanish-Swiss photographer based in Geneva. His work has been exhibited in Switzerland, Spain and Belgium, and published in several specialized magazines.
He develops a sensitive body of work rooted in the experience of the passage of time and vulnerability. His visual style, understated and poetic, gives rise to images imbued with silence, intimate resonances, and sometimes mystery.
In her long-term project Before Dancing on Her Heart, portraits and natural and suburban landscapes intertwine and respond to each other to compose a visual meditation on our vulnerability, the fragility of things and the importance of connections.
He works with analog photography, most often in black and white, for its ability to capture the nuances of emotion and time. He develops his images himself, thus extending his artistic gesture into the materiality of the print. This artisanal approach gives his work an organic texture.
Oscillating between medium format and 35mm, he chooses his tool according to the context and expressive intention.
